The Dayfaro CLI turns written material into a spoken episode without leaving your terminal. It writes an editable script, records it with synthetic voices, and saves an MP3 and a transcript. The same account and prepaid balance work in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and the Dayfaro workspace.

Start with material you already have: an article you can use, research notes, a newsletter draft, or a product update. Dayfaro works from the text you give it. It does not open links, research a topic, or decide which news is current; those steps happen before you create the episode.

Install the CLI and sign in

Run curl -fsSL https://dayfaro.com/install.sh | bash on macOS or Linux. The installer checks for Node.js 18 or newer, verifies the download, and adds dayfaro to your PATH. Open a new terminal afterwards.

Run dayfaro login. Your browser opens and shows a short code; check that it matches your terminal and approve it while signed in to Dayfaro. The CLI then receives its own access key, stored on your computer with owner-only permissions. On a server, use dayfaro login --no-browser and approve the code from any device. In scripts and CI, set the DAYFARO_KEY environment variable instead.

Create your first episode

For a first episode, run dayfaro create notes.md --wait --out episode.mp3. The command shows progress while Dayfaro writes the script and records the voices, then saves the MP3. Add --speakers 2 for a conversation, --language it for Italian, or --duration 120 for a longer episode.

Prefer to approve the words first? Add --script-only, save the script with dayfaro script <id> --out script.json, edit it, and store it with dayfaro edit <id> --file script.json. Then record it with dayfaro voice <id> --wait. Script edits are free, and you can record again with other voices without rewriting anything.

Let your coding agents use it

Coding agents that work in your terminal can run the same commands. Add --json for machine-readable output, pass source text on stdin with dayfaro create - , and check the exit code: 0 for success, 1 for a failed request or generation, 2 for a usage error, and 3 when the agent is not signed in.

Episodes take a while to record, so agents can start one, continue other work, and later run dayfaro wait <id>. To connect an agent through MCP instead, run dayfaro mcp to print the setup for Cursor, Claude Code, Claude, and ChatGPT.

What to check before publishing

Listen to the result and compare important claims with the source. Keep attribution alongside the episode where appropriate, and use only material you have permission to process and distribute. Every Dayfaro recording carries metadata marking it as AI-generated; dayfaro verify episode.mp3 confirms a file came from Dayfaro.

Download links expire after an hour, so run dayfaro download <id> whenever you need the file again. Credits start at $10, with no subscription and no expiry date for unused credits.
